On March 23rd, our association hosted a thematic salon at the Mercedes-Benz Culture Center, focusing on the interpretation of the "Regulations on the Management of Activities of Non-Governmental Organizations within China."
This seminar received strong support from the Municipal Commerce Bureau. The seminar featured a presentation by Mr. Xu Guangye, Enforcement Supervision Officer, from the Overseas Non-Governmental Organization Management Office of the Shanghai Public Security Bureau, focusing on the "Management Law." Attendees included Mr. Li Lei, Director, and Mr. Chen Weijie, Deputy Director, of the Exhibition and Trade Promotion Department of the Municipal Commerce Bureau, as well as representatives from the business bureaus of Pudong, Jing'an, Xuhui, Changning, Putuo, Qingpu, and Jiading Districts. The seminar also included participation from association leaders, including Secretary Mr. Chen Jianxin, President Mr. Sang Jingmin, and Secretary-General Mr. Tu Jianqing, as well as over 30 leading exhibition and convention organizers from the city.

During the session, Officer Xu Guangye provided a comprehensive and clear explanation of the "Regulations on the Administration of Activities of Foreign Non-Governmental Organizations Within China" (effective January 1, 2017), covering: * Definitions of foreign non-governmental organizations. * Legitimate forms of operation within China. * Criteria for identifying foreign non-governmental organizations. * Reporting requirements, including procedures and required documentation for temporary activities. * Key considerations for event organizers. The session aimed to assist principal organizers in clarifying reporting requirements and address any questions or concerns they may have regarding event and exhibition operations.

In his remarks, Mr. Li Lei, Director of the Exhibition Affairs Department of the Shanghai Municipal Commerce Commission, emphasized that, due to the high degree of internationalization of Shanghai's exhibition industry, all principal organizers should pay close attention and comply with the relevant regulations through today's event. Currently, all exhibitions in the city have been fully launched, and all exhibition companies should prioritize pandemic prevention and control measures, ensuring that all relevant protocols are implemented effectively, to promote the industry's stable and high-quality development.

During the closing remarks of the seminar, Mr. Chen Jianxin, Party Secretary of the Shanghai Exhibition and Convention Industry Association, emphasized the following: All exhibition and convention companies should prioritize this matter, focusing on the benefits for Shanghai as an international exhibition and convention center, and for Shanghai's further and higher-quality reform and opening-up. They should also implement relevant regulations, carry out their work effectively, create favorable conditions, and unlock potential, with the aim of restoring Shanghai's exhibition and convention industry to its pre-pandemic level as quickly as possible.
