The pilot launch area of the Eastern Hub International Business Cooperation Zone has begun operation. To help market entities better understand the facilities and policies in the cooperation zone, the Shanghai Convention and Exhibition Industries Association, entrusted by the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce, organized exhibition enterprises to visit the zone on the morning of January 19, 2026.

The visiting delegation toured the core areas of the pilot launch zone, including the joint inspection hall, the conference center and the Sunrise complex, and attended a dedicated promotional briefing to learn about the regional planning, functional positioning and policy system of the Eastern Hub.

Sang Jingmin, President of the Shanghai Convention and Exhibition Industries Association, shared views from the perspective of industry development. He noted that the Eastern Hub, as an international open hub to be developed as a key Shanghai project during the 15th Five-Year Plan period, will play an important role in the next stage of development. He suggested that enterprise representatives actively consider developing projects in the cooperation zone to serve the national strategy of high-level opening-up.

Li Hong, second-level inspector of the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce, delivered remarks. She emphasized that the Eastern Hub is an important part of the national strategy. With commerce, exhibitions and training as its core positioning, it is China's first special zone designed to facilitate overseas participation in exhibitions and exhibition organization. During the 15th Five-Year Plan period, Shanghai will continue moving toward the goal of becoming an international exhibition capital, and the Eastern Hub will become a core business carrier and space in that process, providing key support for resource integration and expanded international cooperation.

She suggested that enterprise representatives seize the opportunity, strengthen regular communication with relevant departments, actively seek special funding support, use policy benefits to improve exhibition capabilities, and help promote high-quality development of Shanghai's exhibition industry.
