The Cultural and Creative Special Exhibition Forum of the first Yangtze River Delta International Cultural Industries Expo, together with the initiative ceremony for the Yangtze River Delta Cultural and Creative Special Exhibition Industry Alliance, was held this morning in the central hall of the Shanghai Exhibition Center.
Under the theme New Consumption, New Opportunities - the Industrial Environment and Development Path of Cultural and Creative Special Exhibitions, the forum was co-hosted by the Cultural and Creative Special Exhibition Professional Committee of the Shanghai Convention and Exhibition Industries Association and the SJTU-USC Institute of Cultural and Creative Industry. It was organized by Shanghai CCPIT Exhibition Display Co., Ltd. and Huamao International Exhibition Shanghai Co., Ltd., co-organized by Shanghai Xibu Culture Communication Co., Ltd., and academically supported by the Shanghai Cultural and Creative Special Exhibition Research Center.
The forum was moderated by Bai Qinqin, general manager of Huamao International Exhibition Shanghai Co., Ltd. Chen Xianjin, Party secretary of the Shanghai Convention and Exhibition Industries Association, delivered remarks on site.

To further promote linkage and development of the cultural industry in the Yangtze River Delta, Tu Jianqing, secretary-general of the Shanghai Convention and Exhibition Industries Association; Tang Qiang, vice president of the Jiangsu Conference and Exhibition Industry Association; Zhang Wumin, secretary-general of the Anhui Convention and Exhibition Industry Association; and Qian Xinli, secretary-general of the Zhejiang International Conference and Exhibition Industry Association, jointly proposed the establishment of the Yangtze River Delta Cultural and Creative Special Exhibition Industry Alliance. Witnessed by Chen Xianjin and Xu Runhe, the initiators signed the proposal.

The 2018 Shanghai Cultural and Creative Special Exhibition Industry Research Report was released for the first time at the forum. The report provides a comprehensive review of the development patterns of Shanghai's cultural and creative special exhibitions in the first three quarters of 2018 and offers thoughts and recommendations for future development.

Practitioners and researchers from the cultural and creative special exhibition sector across China delivered keynote speeches at the forum.
Jia Bu, founder of Shanghai Xibu Culture Communication Co., Ltd., briefly reviewed the development path and overall characteristics of special exhibitions over the past five years from three perspectives: organizers, exhibition content and audience behavior. She also analyzed the operating model and audience demand behind popular social media exhibitions, cross-city exhibition viewing by audiences in the Yangtze River Delta, and emerging social patterns around visiting exhibitions.

Sun Wenqian, executive director of the Museum of Contemporary Art Shanghai, analyzed the pain points and opportunities in the market development of Shanghai's cultural and creative special exhibitions from the angles of exhibition creativity and copyright, content planning, professional talent development, and the possible social effects of cross-sector linkage.

Qiu Yongsheng, director of the cultural and creative department of Nanjing Museum, delivered a speech titled Exploration of Paths for Yangtze River Delta Linkage in Cultural and Creative Special Exhibitions. He proposed that the cultural industry can further explore cooperation paths by comparing the Yangtze River Delta with other world-famous delta regions, comparing the culture of China's Grand Canal with famous artificial canals worldwide, and examining Yangtze River civilization in connection with the Yangtze River Economic Belt.

Associate Professor Chu Chi-jung from the Graduate Institute of Museum Studies at Fu Jen Catholic University in Taiwan used special exhibitions at British and American museums as main cases to introduce the international development history and trends of cultural and creative special exhibitions. Using industrial analysis, she explored their production and consumption dimensions and also discussed the non-economic dimensions of special exhibitions.

Jiang Jinzhang, vice dean of the SJTU-USC Institute of Cultural and Creative Industry, spoke on the theme Special Exhibitions Open New Territory for the Digital Economy. He explained the relationship between cultural and creative special exhibitions and the digital economy, discussed the inevitability that other industries will need such exhibitions as a source of innovative production value as special exhibitions become industrialized, and argued that special exhibitions will drive the prosperity and development of the digital economy through creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship. He also offered strategic suggestions for the industry's development.

The forum provided a communication platform for connecting cultural and creative resources and sharing information across the Yangtze River Delta. It promoted the effective flow of industry factors among cities, empowered the implementation of special exhibition projects and industrial development, and opened a new chapter for exchange and cooperation in the Yangtze River Delta cultural and creative special exhibition sector.
