Sichuan News Network, Chengdu, December 27 (Reporter Jiang Yao, Zhou Ziming) – Today marks the official opening of the highly anticipated exhibition, "The Soul of the Silk Road: A Grand Exhibition of Dunhuang Art and a Special Exhibition on Cultural Relics of the Silk Road and the Kingdom of Tianfu," to the public. The exhibition is expected to experience its first major influx of visitors during the upcoming New Year holiday. Sichuan News Network reporters also advise all visitors to book their tickets in advance through the official Chengdu Museum website or WeChat account. Furthermore, initial observations on the opening day have revealed some inappropriate behaviors, such as touching the murals and using flash photography. Reporters urge visitors to refrain from using flash photography, as a single flash is equivalent to exposing the murals to seven years of sunlight.
The number of online bookings is 10 times higher than usual. Security personnel have been increased by 100%.
According to data from the Chengdu Museum, despite being a weekday, the museum welcomed over 10,000 visitors on the opening day. A reporter from Sichuan News reported that a long queue of visitors lined up at the entrance to collect tickets, and the number of visitors who had pre-booked through the Chengdu Museum's official website and WeChat account also reached ten times the usual number.
In response to the high level of activity, Chenbo has deployed security personnel at double the usual capacity to ensure the smooth and safe operation of the exhibition. Attendees are required to present their identification cards to obtain complimentary admission tickets and proceed to entry in an orderly queue. We also remind attendees that the following items are prohibited from entering the exhibition hall: flammable, explosive, and prohibited weapons, as well as selfie sticks, food, and beverages. Any attendees bringing these items must store them at the entrance before entering the hall.
Furthermore, reporters from Sichuan News Network observed that, due to the limited space of the exhibition hall, a strict entry and exit route was established on the ground floor, specifically in the Dunhuang exhibition hall, to ensure orderly viewing.
Not just Mogao Caves: Explore 28 provincial and municipal museums in a single day.
Upon entering the ground floor exhibition hall, visitors will immediately encounter the centerpiece of this exhibition: the art of the Mogao Caves. Guided by a Mogao expert, attendees will explore seven meticulously selected replicas of caves, featuring intricate cave structures and a mysterious atmosphere created by the exhibition hall lighting. This immersive experience will transport visitors back to a distant past. The replicas showcase exquisite flying apsaras and profound Buddhist stories, providing a rich visual experience for all attendees. Following the cave tour, visitors can proceed to the ground floor's "Mogao Art Exhibition" to enjoy the original Mogao murals and sculptures up close. This exhibition features 70 replicas of Mogao murals and 11 replicas of sculptures, offering Sichuan audiences a unique opportunity to learn about Mogao. Additionally, 68 exquisite artifacts, including Han Dynasty bamboo slips and painted brick, will allow visitors to experience the splendor of the Mogao region. Furthermore, 42 replicas of murals and 16 replicas of sculptures, each with a distinct Western and Central Chinese style, will also be on display.
It is also noteworthy that the long-sealed and mysterious cave, which has remained largely unseen, will be showcased at this event. Attendees will have the opportunity to view 10 authentic artifacts unearthed from the cave, a rare and valuable collection. These replicas of the caves, sculptures, and murals are the culmination of master artisans' lifelong dedication and are worthy of careful examination.

This scale of the "Sabei Conference" is unparalleled in China, making it an essential annual event not to be missed.
Upon reaching the second-floor exhibition hall, visitors will experience a unique perspective on Xinjiang and Gansu cave art and mural art, distinct from the Mogao Caves in Dunhuang. This exhibition offers a deeper immersion in a longer history and a more Westernized style, allowing visitors to appreciate the artistic essence of iconic sites such as Gansu's Mei Ji Shan, Xinjiang's Kexi and Gaochang Caves, and other timeless classics. Experience the exotic charm of the Western Regions.
"Exposure to direct flash photography for a single instance is equivalent to exposing a mural to sunlight for seven years. We advise attendees to "observe and appreciate, but refrain from touching or handling the artwork."
As the New Year approaches, the Chengdu Museum anticipates a significant increase in visitor numbers. Therefore, citizens wishing to visit the museum during the New Year holiday are encouraged to make online reservations through the Chengdu Museum's official website and WeChat account.
Additionally, to protect valuable artifacts, please refrain from using selfie sticks or flash photography. Each flash will expose these delicate murals to sunlight for seven years, causing further damage to the already fragile cave paintings. To ensure the smooth and successful operation of the exhibition and to foster a respectful viewing environment, we kindly request that visitors adhere to the following guidelines: "Do not touch or handle; only observe and appreciate."
