On the afternoon of February 22, the Party Committee of the Shanghai Convention and Exhibition Industries Association held its 2021 democratic life meeting. The meeting earnestly implemented the spirit of higher-level Party committees, focused on Party history study and education, deeply studied and implemented Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and the spirit of the Sixth Plenary Session of the 19th CPC Central Committee, vigorously carried forward the great founding spirit of the Communist Party of China, strengthened historical confidence and fulfilled the mission of the times. Around the theme of welcoming the 20th CPC National Congress with outstanding achievements, participants conducted Party spirit analysis in light of personal thinking, study and work, exchanged ideas, examined problems, made in-depth analyses, and carried out criticism and self-criticism.
The meeting was chaired by Chen Xianjin, secretary of the association's Party Committee. All members of the Party Committee leadership team attended, and representatives of grassroots organization leaders were present. Wang Chen, deputy secretary of the Industry Association Party Committee under the Municipal Working Committee of Party and Government Departments, attended for guidance.
At the meeting, the Party Committee reported on the implementation of rectification measures from the 2020 democratic life meeting, preparations for the 2021 democratic life meeting, and opinions solicited from grassroots organizations before this meeting. Secretary Chen Xianjin took the lead in speaking, conducted a comparative examination and offered criticism and expectations for each member of the leadership team. Other Party Committee members then made personal comparative examinations one by one and offered mutual criticism and assistance.
In their speeches, every member of the Party Committee leadership team insisted on placing themselves, their responsibilities and their work into the examination, and carried out strict investigation and in-depth analysis. Self-criticism was direct and clear, while mutual criticism was candid and constructive. The meeting achieved the goals of correcting mistakes, unifying thinking and enhancing unity. For the problems identified, participants clarified rectification measures and directions for future efforts.
The democratic life meeting implemented strict standards and practical requirements, and is of great significance for strengthening the association Party Committee's own development and improving its ability to perform duties.

Wang Chen fully affirmed the democratic life meeting. He said the meeting was well prepared and solid, the secretary took the lead by example, and the atmosphere was very good. The comparative examination identified shortcomings accurately and clarified directions. The criticism was also targeted and achieved the expected results. He required the association's Party Committee leadership team to make good use of the outcomes of the democratic life meeting, form a list of problems based on the identified issues, and carry out rectification. He hoped the Party Committee would quickly build one or two grassroots Party building organizations that are recognized and influential in the industry, so as to provide demonstration and guidance for the development of industry Party building.
The association's Party Committee said it would carefully summarize and sort out the outcomes of the democratic life meeting, further correct thinking, carry out problem rectification and promote industry development, and welcome the successful convening of the 20th CPC National Congress through concrete actions.
