Congress Frankfurt: Number of Asian Conferences Grows Significantly.
Looking ahead to 2017, focus turns to events in the scientific field.

Mr. Johann Thoma.
Director of Guest Events, Messe Frankfurt Venue GmbH.
Mr. Johann Thoma, who has served as director of guest events at Messe Frankfurt since 2016, said, Last year, our close interaction with the German Convention Bureau and the Frankfurt Convention Bureau for the Asian region produced significant results. In 2015, Congress Frankfurt hosted only one conference organized by an Asian organizer. In 2016, organizers from China, South Korea and Thailand held nine conferences there, showing the outstanding effectiveness of promotion in Asia.
In 2016, under the management of Congress Frankfurt, a total of 163 forums and conferences were held at the Messe Frankfurt exhibition grounds and Kap Europa conference center. Ms. Delius-Fisher, director of Congress Frankfurt, was pleased to note that the overall number of conferences grew by as much as 10 percent. Many event organizers and about 132,500 participants continued to highly appreciate the range of services provided by Messe Frankfurt.
Among the events held in 2016 were many large international conferences and forums. The 49th Annual Meeting of the Asian Development Bank, held in May, attracted as many as 4,000 participants. At the 80th General Meeting of the International Electrotechnical Commission in October, 3,500 professionals from more than 80 countries and regions gathered together.
In addition, nine professional associations in scientific fields held events in the congress center building, the Forum hall and Kap Europa. These included associations for gynecology and obstetrics, palliative medicine, neonatology and pediatric intensive care medicine, neurosurgery, cardiology and cardiovascular research, rheumatology, hand surgery, orthodontics, and pain research in Germany. These medical events attracted nearly 22,000 professionals to Frankfurt.
At the beginning of 2017, Congress Frankfurt welcomed a major industry event: the Associations and Conference Forum annual meeting, held from January 19 to 21. AC Forum is Europe's only exchange platform serving professional associations in the scientific field. It regularly holds more than one hundred events each year, a large share of which are major medical conferences with large participant groups. AC Forum members are mostly general managers or conference managers. They gather there each year to discuss their work results and experience.
The 106th German Librarians' Day will be held from May 30 to June 2 in the congress center building, the adjacent Hall 5.1 and the Forum hall. The event is expected to welcome more than 3,000 visitors and will add another highlight to Messe Frankfurt's event calendar.
The 25th Annual Congress of the European Association for Endoscopic Surgery will also be held from June 14 to 17 at Congress Frankfurt. In the future, more events organized by professional associations in scientific fields may be staged at Messe Frankfurt's exhibition and conference venues, covering areas such as gastroenterology, urology, vascular surgery and vascular medicine.
