From January 18 to 21, the 23rd Magna Expo Mueblera Industrial was successfully held at Centro Banamex in Mexico City. This year, the exhibition was managed and organized for the first time by Deutsche Messe, represented locally by its subsidiary Hannover Fairs Mexico.
The first edition of Magna Expo Mueblera Industrial under Deutsche Messe achieved complete success. Christian Pfeiffer, global director of LIGNA at Deutsche Messe, said, This was our first time organizing the exhibition, and we are pleased to have achieved significant increases in the participation of both international exhibitors and visitors. This year's Magna Expo Mueblera Industrial brought together about 250 exhibitors from around 30 countries, including many leading players in the global market, such as Stiles, Leitz, Felder, HOLZ-HER, Weinig, Kastamonu, SCM, Biesse, Altendorf and Siempelkamp.
At the exhibition, these market-leading companies showcased a wide range of products and solutions, covering areas such as entry-level CNC machine tools and integrated CNC systems for mass production. One highlight of the exhibition, the CNC Applications display unit, received extensive international participation. The supporting seminar program also attracted a large number of participants. The CNC module focused on using new smart technologies to improve productivity and promote integrated production across all links of the wood-processing chain.
The 2017 Magna Expo Mueblera Industrial displayed woodworking machinery, tools, equipment, accessories, fittings and materials for customized and mass production, attracting many visitors from 16 countries. The exhibition also covered wood-based panel products and veneer production, living room, kitchen and office furniture, as well as textiles, interior decoration materials and daily-use products.
Marco Pedronici from SCM Group said, We are very satisfied with this exhibition. At the event, we achieved very encouraging results in both the number and quality of new business opportunities. The exhibition also had a positive impact on Mexico, as many companies continue to invest in new plants and equipment. As a solid market with a large population and many young people, Mexico's economy is maintaining sound development momentum. We firmly believe that Mexico has significant growth potential.
After close consultation with exhibitors, we decided to split Magna Expo Mueblera Industrial into two exhibitions. This will allow us to focus much more comprehensively on each exhibition instead of the different themes involved, Christian Pfeiffer explained. From 2018 onward, Deutsche Messe will be responsible for organizing Magna Expo Mueblera Industrial and will build it into an annual exhibition focused on machinery, applications, materials, equipment and solutions in forestry, wood processing and furniture production. The first edition will be held from January 17 to 20, 2018. The company will also hold Magna ExpoMueblera Mobiliario e Interiores annually from 2018 onward, focusing on furniture, kitchen cabinets, interior design, household appliances and flooring. The first edition of that exhibition will be held from March 6 to 9, 2018.
Thanks to its comprehensive exhibition portfolio, including DOMOTEX Hannover, the world's leading trade fair for carpets and floor coverings, and LIGNA, the world's leading trade fair for machinery, plant and equipment for the wood industry, Deutsche Messe has the global network and high-quality business contacts needed to make exhibitions successful. Pfeiffer noted, Splitting Magna Expo Mueblera Industrial into two exhibitions will enable us to pursue excellence.
On June 8, 2016, Deutsche Messe acquired a majority stake in Magna Expo Mueblera Industrial. The exhibition focuses on the Mexican market, an important driver for exports to North and Central America. It is also aligned with Deutsche Messe's global network concept. The acquisition gives Deutsche Messe a foothold in Mexico, complementing its organizations in the United States, Canada and Brazil.
