Li Lei, head of the Exhibition Industry Division of the Municipal Commission of Commerce, delivered a speech. According to statistics, from February to June this year, 160 exhibition projects in Shanghai were postponed or canceled, involving about 6.7 million square meters of exhibition area and creating a major impact on all exhibition enterprises. During the epidemic, the association issued various initiatives and epidemic prevention guides. Party Secretary Chen Xianjin also repeatedly urged municipal leaders on different occasions to restore Shanghai's exhibition industry as soon as possible.

Since June, the entire exhibition industry has made great efforts, and the situation has been recovering steadily and orderly. The Shanghai Convention and Exhibition Industry Regulations implemented this year are the first local legislation for the exhibition industry among provincial-level administrative units in China. They have injected momentum and confidence into the industry's response to COVID-19 and the accelerated building of an international exhibition capital. The Shanghai Bar Association participated throughout the drafting process and played an important role in promoting the regulations. It has become an important professional organization supporting high-quality development of Shanghai's exhibition industry. The tripartite cooperation agreement among the association, the Bar Association and the promotion center will help improve professionalization and rule-of-law standards in the city's exhibition industry and create a high-quality business environment. It is also an important measure for implementing the regulations in Shanghai. Going forward, the Municipal Commission of Commerce will use implementation of the regulations as the starting point, continue improving public service standards and industry professionalization, and actively guide internationally known exhibitions and companies to settle in Shanghai. Recently, the commission has also been planning more practical measures for enterprises. Together with the human resources authority, it is discussing including the exhibition industry among key industries for talent introduction. It will also continue promoting Shanghai exhibition industry's dual-circulation development pattern, support the city in strengthening its four major functions, and accelerate the building of an international exhibition capital.
