Recently, The Ministry of Commerce has issued the "Regulations on the Statistical Monitoring of the Exhibition Industry" (hereinafter referred to as "the Regulations"). The Regulations aim to establish a statistical monitoring system for the exhibition industry, with exhibition operators, exhibition organizers, and exhibition service providers as the main survey objects. This system will scientifically and effectively carry out statistical work in the exhibition industry, further increase market transparency, optimize market structure, and promote the orderly and healthy development of the industry.
The Regulations are based on the National Economic Industry Classification (GB/T4754-2011and combine with the trend of integration of the Chinese exhibition industry chain, defining15several major categories, 60and other statistical indicators, covering core indicators such as exhibition area, exhibitors, visitors, and exhibition revenue and expenditure. The Regulations also include detailed indicators for the structure of exhibitors and visitors, as well as economic indicators such as revenue and expenditure, foreign exchange, and employees, which comprehensively reflect the scale and development level, regional distribution, and market structure of the exhibition industry.
The Regulations include the establishment of a system for key contact enterprises (units) and a database of key contact enterprises (units), ensuring the scientific and rational nature of the statistics. By drawing on mainstream international standards for exhibition industry terminology, the Regulations enhance the consistency and comparability of domestic and international exhibition industry statistical data, and improve the timeliness and comprehensiveness of data collection. The implementation of these Regulations will help to make statistical work in the exhibition industry more comprehensive, accurate, and timely, reflecting the development of the exhibition industry in China.
